A shift calendar for paramedics and EMS

EMS runs everything: 24-hour tours in some services, twelve-hour cars in others, and a great deal of extra work picked up on the days between. The pattern is the easy part to save; the extra work is the part worth recording.

The rotation

Whether your service runs 24-hour tours, twelve-hour cars or a compressed cycle, the pattern repeats and can be saved once. From then on your calendar is filled in as far ahead as you want to look, with the changeovers where they actually fall.

The shifts you pick up

Extra shifts, standby cover, event medical cover, a second service, a transfer company — EMS work arrives from more directions than most jobs. Each one is recorded under whoever hired you, with the hours, the rate and whether the money has come in.

The day after a tour

A 24-hour tour takes the day and most of the next. Seeing the cycle drawn out is what stops you promising a day you were never going to have, and it is why the run of days off afterwards is worth planning something into.

What to switch off

Police categories and the court and jail directory can be renamed, hidden or removed. What is left is the rotation and the record of what you worked around it.

The rotations this usually means

Whichever of these your employer runs, the cycle is drawn out day by day so you can check it against your own roster before you save it.

24/72

One day on, three off, on a four-day cycle.

See it drawn day by day

4 on 4 off

Twelve-hour blocks with four clear days between them.

Kelly

Nine days and a scheduled day off inside the cycle.

Built for police. Works for any rotation.

The law-enforcement side switches off. The rotation engine and the record of what you earned do not care what you do for a living.
