Officers call themselves cops. Agencies write “police officer” on the paperwork. Whichever word you use, the problem is the same one: you work a rotation, the rotation does not care what day of the week it is, and everyone around you is on a calendar that assumes weekends.

What a cop needs a calendar to do

Not much, but the few things have to be right.

• Hold the rotation. Save the pattern once and the year fills itself in — days, nights and 24-hour tours, however long the cycle runs.
• Show it to someone at home. A rotation only causes arguments while it is invisible. Shifts can go to a partner's Google Calendar without them installing anything.
• Keep court and training on the same screen as the shifts, because that is where the clashes happen.
• Track the off-duty work — who scheduled it, what it pays, whether it has been paid, and the miles if you drove your own vehicle.
• Work with no signal. Everything is on the phone, not on somebody's server.

What it will not do

Worth saying plainly, because a calendar that claims everything is a calendar you stop trusting. It does not track overtime, it does not bank earned days off, and it does not know what your regular duty schedule pays. It holds your rotation, your events and your off-duty work, and it does those properly.
