How each one is sold

This is the real difference, and it decides most of the rest. Supershift is free with a Pro upgrade that reviewers describe as a one-off purchase; Pro covers cloud sync between your own devices and exporting your schedule out. My Shift Planner is free with advertising and a Pro Pack sold as a monthly or annual subscription, with a free first week that converts automatically. Its Pro gates device calendar sync, pay tracking, advanced reporting, multiple rotas, leave tracking and sharing, and removes the ads.

So the same feature — getting your shifts into your phone calendar — is a one-off on one side and a recurring charge on the other.

Rotations

Both handle the shapes people actually work. Supershift names them the way the trade does — 4-on-4-off, DuPont, Pitman, Panama, Continental, 2-2-3 — and applies a defined rotation up to two years ahead. My Shift Planner ships a library of patterns by shape — 4On/4Off, 5On/4Off, 4-2 Early/Late, On/Off with your own numbers — and lets you edit them after choosing, plus run more than one rota in a calendar on the Pro tier.

Money

Supershift's reports cover earnings, differentials, hours per shift type, overtime and shift counts, aimed at checking a payroll cheque. My Shift Planner added automatic overtime calculation against weekly and monthly thresholds, with work time reports and timesheets you can download. Both work from rates you type in, so both produce an estimate of what the hours ought to be worth rather than a record of what arrived.

Where they come from

Supershift is German and translated into thirteen languages, with an Apple Watch app and a Mac version. My Shift Planner is British, and its vocabulary shows it: rota, annual leave, time in lieu. Neither is a fault. Both are worth knowing before you read their help pages.

Privacy

Supershift sells hard on being on-device with no account — and Apple's privacy section on its own listing declares data that may be used to track you across apps and websites owned by other companies. Read that section yourself on either listing; it is the part nobody scrolls to.

Which one

If you object to subscriptions, that decides it. If you want timesheets and leave balances, My Shift Planner has them and Supershift does not. If you want the better-looking calendar and a watch app, it is Supershift.

And the third option

Both are general calendars. Neither holds court dates, comp time, the squad you bid, or an off-duty job under the employer who owes you for it. BlueShifts does not do timesheets, overtime totals or leave balances, and does not pretend to. It does the police half of the week.
