Beaumont Police Department entry pay

What this agency pays a new officer to start, and how that compares with the rest of the country.

Entry pay onlyEvery salary here is what an officer is paid on day one, out of the academy — base pay on a 40-hour week, with no overtime, shift differential, specialty or education pay counted. Nobody stays on it.

Beaumont Police Department starts at $94,557 a year — about $45.46 an hour on a 2,080-hour year, before overtime. That is $27,872 above the median of the 2,288 agencies on this list, and $26,417 above the median for municipal agencies.

Cost of livingPrices in California run about 11% above the national average, so this is worth roughly $85,402 somewhere at average prices — $9,155 less than the headline figure. Most of that is utilities, at 159 against a national average of 100, where goods are 106. Based on state-wide price levels, because this agency is not tied to a single metro area, from the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis, 2024. The salary above is what the employer publishes; this line is our arithmetic on it, and nothing on this site is ranked on it.

How big the department isBeaumont Police Department reported 58 sworn officers and 25 civilian staff to the FBI for 2025. That is 0.9 officers per 1,000 residents, over a population of 61,160.A rate is only meaningful for a city department, where the population served is the city’s own. Reporting to the FBI is voluntary, so a count can reflect a partial return as easily as a small agency, and the FBI asks that agencies not be compared on staffing. What Beaumont says about itself

The mission of the Beaumont Police Department is to provide the highest quality law enforcement service in the most effective and efficient manner possible.

What Beaumont does

The Beaumont Police Department serves the city of Beaumont, California, in the San Gorgonio Pass of Riverside County. The City prices its sworn officers by salary range on a Compensation Plan adopted by Council, carrying distinct Police Cadet, Police Trainee and Police Officer classes on separate ranges, with only the Police Officer and the ranks above it inside the Police Officers Association. Its agreement with that association runs to June 2026 and contains no shift rotation article.

Where the figure comes from

Checked 21 September 2026. City of Beaumont Compensation Plan adopted by City Council 2 September 2025, effective 1 July 2025 — "Police Officer | Police Officers Association | 68 | 78", with the Salary Range Table in the same document giving range 68 as "$ 94,556.76 | $ 7,879.73 | $ 3,636.80 | $ 45.46". — open the source document
$94,556.76 is the City's own annual figure for the first step of salary range 68 and no arithmetic has been applied to it - the table prints $7,879.73 monthly, $3,636.80 bi-weekly and $45.46 hourly beside it. THE FIGURE IS A JOIN ACROSS TWO TABLES AND THAT IS STATED RATHER THAN HIDDEN: the Compensation Plan gives the CLASS its range number, 68 first step and 78 top step, and the Salary Range Table bound into the SAME published document gives range 68 its dollars. Both are pages of one City document, and the join was verified against a second City publication, the separately posted Salary table, which returns the identical figures to the cent. NEVER READ THE RANGE NUMBERS AS MONEY: "68 78" are grade indices, not pay, and the row family reads "Police Corporal 74 84" and "Police Sergeant 80 90" the same way. THE TRAINEE AND CADET CLASSES ARE PRICED THROUGH THE SAME TABLE AND ARE NOT THE FIGURE: Police Trainee is range 49, a single step at $59,155.20 a year, and Police Cadet is range 31, a single step at $37,918.44 - neither in the police association. THE FIGURE IS DATED BY THE PLAN ITSELF. THE WHOLE DOCUMENT IS A SCAN and was read by rendering it and looking at it, which is why three earlier passes could not write this row.
Entry-level base salary only. Overtime, bonuses, education incentives, shift differentials, locality pay and lateral rates are excluded, so most officers earn more than this.
