Caribou County Sheriff's Office covers over 1,700 square miles of south-eastern Idaho — including 55 square miles of waterway — for about 7,200 residents, from Soda Springs. Its patrol division is a chief deputy, a lieutenant, a sergeant and five deputies, working in four-wheel-drive vehicles, ATVs, snow machines, motorcycles and watercraft, and handling civil papers, traffic enforcement, crash and crime investigation and VIN inspections. It serves the unincorporated county plus Bancroft, Grace and Soda Springs, and runs a 49-bed jail that also holds contract inmates for other counties and the state.
