East Windsor Police Department entry pay

What this agency pays a new officer to start, and how that compares with the rest of the country.

Entry pay onlyEvery salary here is what an officer is paid on day one, out of the academy — base pay on a 40-hour week, with no overtime, shift differential, specialty or education pay counted. Nobody stays on it.

East Windsor Police Department starts at $66,540 a year — about $31.99 an hour on a 2,080-hour year, before overtime. That is $145 below the median of the 2,288 agencies on this list, and $1,600 below the median for municipal agencies.

Cost of livingPrices in Connecticut run about 4% above the national average, so this is worth roughly $64,222 somewhere at average prices — $2,318 less than the headline figure. Most of that is utilities, at 146 against a national average of 100, where goods are 97. Based on state-wide price levels, because this agency is not tied to a single metro area, from the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis, 2024. The salary above is what the employer publishes; this line is our arithmetic on it, and nothing on this site is ranked on it.

How big the department isEast Windsor Police Department reported 26 sworn officers and 10 civilian staff to the FBI for 2025. That is 2.3 officers per 1,000 residents, over a population of 11,340.A rate is only meaningful for a city department, where the population served is the city’s own. Reporting to the FBI is voluntary, so a count can reflect a partial return as easily as a small agency, and the FBI asks that agencies not be compared on staffing. About East Windsor

The East Windsor Police Department polices the town of East Windsor in Hartford County, Connecticut. Its officers work both town assignments and a number of regional units the department takes part in, including a Regional Tactical Unit (SWAT), narcotics, K9, an unmanned aerial unit, an accident reconstruction team, school resource officer duty and general and juvenile investigations, and the department offers incentives for continuing education alongside a hybrid retirement plan that is part defined benefit and part defined contribution.

Where the figure comes from

Checked 8 September 2026. East Windsor Police Department, continuous entry-level and certified officer announcement, published by the Connecticut Police Officer Standards and Training Council — open the source document
Read 8 September 2026 from the Department's own announcement, carried verbatim on the state POST Council's job board: 'This professional, community-oriented Department offers a highly competitive salary (starting pay ranges from $66,540-84,730)'. The announcement covers ENTRY-LEVEL AND CERTIFIED together and says so - 'POSTC certified officers and non-certified candidates interested in a career with our agency are encouraged to apply' - so the bottom of the range is the non-certified entry rate and the top prices certification and service, which is excluded. The announcement is continuous and its attached entry-level and lateral packets are dated December 2023, so that is the effective date of the figure rather than the date it was read. Assignments named include the regional tactical unit, narcotics, K9, drone, accident reconstruction, school resource and general and juvenile investigations.
Entry-level base salary only. Overtime, bonuses, education incentives, shift differentials, locality pay and lateral rates are excluded, so most officers earn more than this.
