TSA shift schedule at Pittsburgh International Airport

The hours, the tours and how the days off are decided for TSA officers at PIT — taken from the agency’s own airport fact sheet, not from a jobs board.

TSA publishes a fact sheet for every airport it screens, and it sets out the tours worked at that one. Here is what PIT publishes, and what it looks like in the app.

What TSA publishes for PIT

TSA's own airport fact sheet states that "PIT is currently assessing candidates for full-time and part-time positions", with "full-time: 40 hrs. per week of five (5) workdays of eight (8) hours per day" and "part-time: 20-32 hrs. per week of five (5) workdays of four (4) hours per day", and that shifts are "based on airport operational needs".

The two days off in the month above are an example, and that is the point. Both tours are five days here, so the choice is the length of the day and not the number of them. The part-time band runs to thirty-two hours on those same five days, which is four hours short of a full week for a part-time contract. You mark your own two days once and the year fills itself in.

Screening rosters are set by the airport, adjusted after they are issued, and the days off are bid. Why that is, in TSA’s own words.
