TSA pay and shift schedule at San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport

What a Transportation Security Officer is paid at SBP, and the shifts TSA publishes for this airport — from the agency’s own vacancy announcement and its own fact sheet.

TSA publishes a fact sheet for every airport it screens, and it sets out the tours worked at that one. Here is what SBP publishes, and what it looks like in the app.

What TSA publishes for SBP

TSA's own airport fact sheet states that the airport runs an 18.5-hour operating day, that it is assessing candidates for part-time positions only, and that shifts may be morning, afternoon or evening.

The two days off in the month above are an example, and that is the point. An 18.5-hour operating day and three possible shift periods, with no tour length and no days off published. Nothing here fixes a cycle, so none is drawn. You mark your own two days once and the year fills itself in.

What is inside this figure. THE HIGHEST LOCALITY IN THE SECTION AT 35.84%, and unlike Boston and Fairbanks there is no retention incentive inside it - the whole figure is scale and locality, which makes it the most durable of the high numbers here. A sign-on bonus of up to $5,000 is offered separately, paid in two instalments over the first twelve months, and is not part of the salary. THE ANNOUNCEMENT ALSO STATES, in TSA's own words, that "at this time, this airport is only seeking qualified female candidates to meet mission related staffing needs" and that applications from male candidates "will be accepted but not considered until staffing needs change" - a screening-workforce requirement TSA states openly, recorded here because it changes who this vacancy is actually open to.

Questions

Is $52,088 before or after locality pay?

After. TSA states the range for SBP as $52,088 to $64,224 and says in the same sentence that it includes locality pay of 35.84%. The same band at an airport in a cheaper locality pays less.
