Augusta patrol officers are covered by the Fraternal Order of Police collective bargaining agreement, with a base pay range of $32.39 to $41.83 an hour \u2014 $67,371.20 a year at the bottom \u2014 plus an annual cost of living rise and scheduled step increases. Prior police service may be credited toward starting pay and vacation accrual. Officers are enrolled in the MainePERS Special Plan, a twenty-five-year no-age defined benefit pension, and do not contribute to Social Security.
