FY2026 Police Officer New Hire Step 1 is $59,502 annually. The plan states the initial increase occurs after recruit school AND completion of field training, meaning Step 1 remains the applicable base rate through the immediate post-academy period. CMPD separately confirms that police recruits are employees who have not yet graduated from the Training Academy. Thus $59,502 is the first salary applicable to the newly academy-graduated Police Officer, without substituting the later field-training-completion increase CMPD operates its own recruit academy and distinguishes employed police recruits who have not yet graduated from sworn Police Officers.
