Within the department there is a detective bureau, a records bureau, a crime prevention unit and a weighmaster function. Road patrols are divided into 12-hour day and 12-hour night A and B platoons. Dispatch is provided by the Plymouth Township Communications Center, located inside the township's police department, and officers work under the general supervision of a Director of Public Safety.
