What Clewiston does
The Clewiston Police Department is the municipal force for the City of Clewiston in Hendry County on the southern shore of Lake Okeechobee, a city of about 7,300 that calls itself America's Sweetest Town for the sugar industry around it. Covering roughly 4.65 square miles, it operates a 24-hour dispatch center and also runs the City's code enforcement and animal services divisions, including a municipal animal shelter, and is accredited through the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation.
