This is not a discretionary or assignment-conditional add-on like a shift differential or bilingual pay - both components apply across the board to the position as posted, which is why the City quotes the combined figure as THE salary rather than as a bonus on top of one. CLASS CONFIRMED: this is the Non-Certified Police Officer track - a new hire with no prior certification, paid two steps below a certified Police Officer's starting rate while in the City-run academy ($71,540.31), then moving to this rate upon completing the academy and certifying. That is the correct no-prior-service measure. Multiple past postings show the same two-tier structure at lower dollar levels (2019: $59,895 during academy / $63,047 on completion; 2021: $62,314.82 / $65,594.49; an intermediate posting: $69,456.61 / $76,767.76 with supplement), confirming this is a stable, recurring pay structure and not a one-off posting quirk.
