Deputies work 7 days during each 14-day pay period and are off the remaining 7 days. This schedule provides every other weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) off. One shift in each pay period is an 8-hour day." Patrol runs PERMANENT Day Shift and Midnight Shift teams, each on a six-week rotation, with newly sworn deputies assigned by agency need and able to request the opposite shift after a year. The Corrections Bureau runs its own twelve-hour tours, 8am to 8pm and 8pm to 8am, where officers first class and corporals may submit a shift preference without a guarantee. Deputies and correctional officers have a twenty-five year retirement, with up to five years of military time credited.
