Londonderry Police Department entry pay

What this agency pays a new officer to start, and how that compares with the rest of the country.

Entry pay onlyEvery salary here is what an officer is paid on day one, out of the academy — base pay on a 40-hour week, with no overtime, shift differential, specialty or education pay counted. Nobody stays on it.

Londonderry Police Department starts at $66,664 a year — about $32.05 an hour on a 2,080-hour year, before overtime. That is $21 below the median of the 2,288 agencies on this list, and $1,476 below the median for municipal agencies.

Cost of livingPrices in New Hampshire run about 4% above the national average, so this is worth roughly $63,998 somewhere at average prices — $2,666 less than the headline figure. Most of that is utilities, at 134 against a national average of 100, where goods are 99. Based on state-wide price levels, because this agency is not tied to a single metro area, from the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis, 2024. The salary above is what the employer publishes; this line is our arithmetic on it, and nothing on this site is ranked on it.

How big the department isLondonderry Police Department reported 59 sworn officers and 14 civilian staff to the FBI for 2025. That is 2.2 officers per 1,000 residents, over a population of 27,327.A rate is only meaningful for a city department, where the population served is the city’s own. Reporting to the FBI is voluntary, so a count can reflect a partial return as easily as a small agency, and the FBI asks that agencies not be compared on staffing. Where the figure comes from

Checked 20 September 2026. Londonderry Police Department, Non-Certified Officer Recruitment — Londonderry Police Employees Association contract salary table, fiscal year 2027 START step — open the source document
$66,664.00 is the published FY2027 START figure and no arithmetic has been applied to it. The Department publishes the whole Londonderry Police Employees Association table on the page and states the contract took effect 1 July 2023 and runs through 30 June 2029, so the fiscal year beginning 1 July 2026 is the current one. Trainee class: NOT PRICED - the Department names no separate cadet, recruit or academy-attendance wage, and the page the table sits on is the Department's NON-CERTIFIED officer recruitment page, which is what fixes START as the step a candidate without certification is hired at. Prior sworn service is not required; the Department says only that the starting pay step for new employees will depend on the hire year and relevant training, education and experience, which is the mechanism by which an experienced hire is placed ABOVE START. $89,003.20 is the FY2028 top step and is a ceiling, not a step. OPEN AND RECORDED RATHER THAN RESOLVED: the gap between START and STEP 1 is unusually wide - $66,664.00 to $79,185.60 in FY2027, nearly nineteen per cent - which is the shape of a table where START absorbs the academy year, but the Department does not say so and prices no academy wage, so START is taken at face value. The Londonderry police contract on the New Hampshire PELRB's site is the document that would settle it.
Entry-level base salary only. Overtime, bonuses, education incentives, shift differentials, locality pay and lateral rates are excluded, so most officers earn more than this.
