The City of Naples advertises a certified police officer starting salary of $76,320 a year, and a police officer trainee starting salary of $66,320 with full sponsorship at the Southwest Florida Public Service Academy. An applicant arriving with prior sworn experience starts higher up the collective bargaining wage agreement: 36 to 72 months of qualifying service starts on step 2, and 73 months or more on step 3. The package includes a $5,000 signing bonus in two instalments, a $400 monthly commuter stipend for officers without a take-home vehicle, $2 an hour shift differential, up to $4,500 a year in specialty pay, and up to $2,500 towards moving costs for anyone living more than a hundred miles away.

differentials, locality pay and lateral rates are excluded, so most officers earn more
than this.
