Pacific County Sheriff's Office entry pay

What this agency pays a new officer to start, and how that compares with the rest of the country.

Entry pay onlyEvery salary here is what an officer is paid on day one, out of the academy — base pay on a 40-hour week, with no overtime, shift differential, specialty or education pay counted. Nobody stays on it.

Pacific County Sheriff's Office starts at $65,580 a year — about $31.53 an hour on a 2,080-hour year, before overtime. That is $1,105 below the median of the 2,288 agencies on this list, and $2,020 above the median for county agencies.

Cost of livingPrices in Washington run about 7% above the national average, so this is worth roughly $61,282 somewhere at average prices — $4,298 less than the headline figure. Most of that is rent, at 126 against a national average of 100, where goods are 104. Based on state-wide price levels, because this agency is not tied to a single metro area, from the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis, 2024. The salary above is what the employer publishes; this line is our arithmetic on it, and nothing on this site is ranked on it.

Reporting to the FBI is voluntary, so a count can reflect a partial return as easily as a small agency, and the FBI asks that agencies not be compared on staffing. What Pacific County does

The Pacific County Sheriff's Office polices the southwest corner of Washington - Willapa Bay, the Long Beach Peninsula and the lower Columbia - from offices at South Bend and Long Beach, working in two divisions, Field Operations and Support Services. Its commissioned deputies are represented by the Washington Fraternal Order of Police on a six-step monthly scale, and the County also funds a separately priced Shoalwater-assigned deputy line at 95% of the standard deputy rate.

Where the figure comes from

Checked 22 September 2026. Pacific County Fiscal Year 2026 "Status quo" Wage Schedule - Fraternal Order of Police (FOP), Representing Commissioned Law Enforcement Officers: the "Deputy" row reads Step 1 $5,465 under the column headed "1-12 Months", rising to $6,619 at Step 6. — open the source document
$65,580 is the County's monthly Step 1 figure of $5,465 multiplied by twelve; the schedule prices monthly and states no hourly rate, so the annual figure is mine. Step 1 is explicitly the first year - the column is headed "1-12 Months" and the six steps run on twelve-month intervals to "60+ Months". No recruit, cadet, trainee or probationary line appears anywhere on the schedule. THERE IS A SECOND, CHEAPER DEPUTY ROW AND IT IS NOT A TRAINEE RATE: "SHOA Deputy" runs $5,192 to $6,289, which is exactly 95% of the Deputy line at every step, and it is a separate assignment rather than a lower grade of the same job. The plain Deputy row is the County's general commissioned deputy and is the figure here. Excluded: Steps 2 to 6, reaching $6,619 a month; the five longevity tiers, 1.5% from the sixth year through to 8% from the twenty-sixth; Sergeant at $7,612, set at 15% above a top-step deputy; and Lieutenant at $8,374, set 10% above a sergeant. THE SCHEDULE CALLS ITSELF "STATUS QUO" AND THE COUNTY EXPLAINS WHY IN A NOTE ON THE FACE OF IT: "The previous Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) between Pacific County and the Fraternal Order of Police expired on December 31, 2024. However, the parties have not yet come to an agreement regarding a new CBA. Therefore, at the time of the adoption of the Fiscal Year 2026 Pacific County budget, wages for FOP employees reflect the 'status quo' from the previous agreement." So this is a current 2026 County document carrying a 2024 rate, and it says so. THE 2023-2024 FOP CONTRACT ITSELF COULD NOT BE READ - the County publishes it as a forty-six-page scanned image with no text layer - but the budget schedule is the County's own current statement of the rate and does not need it. RE-READ WHEN THE SUCCESSOR CBA IS SIGNED.
Entry-level base salary only. Overtime, bonuses, education incentives, shift differentials, locality pay and lateral rates are excluded, so most officers earn more than this.
