Port St. Lucie Police Department entry pay

What this agency pays a new officer to start, and how that compares with the rest of the country.

Entry pay onlyEvery salary here is what an officer is paid on day one, out of the academy — base pay on a 40-hour week, with no overtime, shift differential, specialty or education pay counted. Nobody stays on it.

Port St. Lucie Police Department starts at $69,078 a year — about $33.21 an hour on a 2,080-hour year, before overtime. That is $688 above the median of the 1,681 agencies on this list, and $2,186 below the median for municipal agencies.

How big the department isPort St. Lucie Police Department reported 336 sworn officers and 85 civilian staff to the FBI for 2025. That is 1.2 officers per 1,000 residents, over a population of 273,427.A rate is only meaningful for a city department, where the population served is the city’s own. Reporting to the FBI is voluntary, so a count can reflect a partial return as easily as a small agency, and the FBI asks that agencies not be compared on staffing. About Port St. Lucie

Port St. Lucie Police Department was established in 1980 with nine officers serving 12,000 residents; today it employs 335 sworn officers and 84 civilians for a city of over 254,000 on Florida's Treasure Coast, halfway between Miami and Orlando. It is led by a chief over two bureaus and one section — Neighborhood Policing, Support Services and Internal Affairs — with the Neighborhood Policing Bureau holding the patrol and district support divisions. The department practises stratified policing, deploying officers where crime is actually occurring rather than patrolling at random, and has been expanding its district structure to keep pace with the city's growth. Special operations include SWAT, K-9, marine and bike units, a drone team, crisis negotiation and a mobile field force, and a volunteer Community Patrol works the districts alongside them.

This cycle has its own page: how it works, and how to build it.

Port St. Lucie publishes the days on and off but not which are days and which are nights. In BlueShifts you choose that yourself — every shift can be a day, a night or a 24-hour tour, and the calendar marks it with a sun, a moon or a clock.

Four tens on a fixed set that you pick twice a year - the same days off every week, chosen rather than rotated. BlueShifts draws the set and keeps court dates and off-duty work on the same calendar.
