STARTING SALARY $59,000.00 on the department's own careers page, which also sets out the sponsored route: an applicant without certification is hired full time with benefits and paid $15.00 an hour while attending the academy or in field training - $31,200.00 a year - and on graduating and passing the State Exam the salary increases to $59,000.00, which is the figure this row publishes. THE PAGE SUPERSEDES THE $50,009.60 IT PREVIOUSLY CARRIED, and the same page is published on both the City and the department domains. The City reimburses academy or equivalency-of-training tuition and state certification up to $5,000, hours during training do not exceed 80 in a 14-day work period, and a take-home vehicle follows completion of training. Sign-on bonuses are $3,500 for experienced and $2,500 for non-experienced officers. The bargaining unit is represented by the Palm Beach County PBA under a 2025-2028 agreement for officers, detectives and sergeants.
