The El Portal Police Department is the municipal force for the Village of El Portal, a village of about 2,000 residents in Miami-Dade County bounded by the Little River Canal and surrounded by the City of Miami. It publishes a mission, a vision and a values statement built on the word TRUSTED - teamwork, respect, unity, selfless service, tenacity, ethics and duty - along with monthly crime statistics, its Fraternal Order of Police collective bargaining agreement and its full applicant package. A Public Safety Committee of the Village Council, chaired by the Mayor, oversees the department.
