Jupiter Police Department entry pay

What this agency pays a new officer to start, and how that compares with the rest of the country.

Entry pay onlyEvery salary here is what an officer is paid on day one, out of the academy — base pay on a 40-hour week, with no overtime, shift differential, specialty or education pay counted. Nobody stays on it.

Jupiter Police Department starts at $75,000 a year — about $36.06 an hour on a 2,080-hour year, before overtime. That is $8,315 above the median of the 2,288 agencies on this list, and $6,860 above the median for municipal agencies.

Cost of livingPrices in Miami-Fort Lauderdale-West Palm Beach, FL run about 14% above the national average, so this is worth roughly $65,700 somewhere at average prices — $9,300 less than the headline figure. Most of that is rent, at 156 against a national average of 100, where goods are 104. Based on price levels for this metropolitan area, from the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis, 2024. The salary above is what the employer publishes; this line is our arithmetic on it, and nothing on this site is ranked on it.

How big the department isJupiter Police Department reported 115 sworn officers and 35 civilian staff to the FBI for 2025. That is 1.8 officers per 1,000 residents, over a population of 63,447.A rate is only meaningful for a city department, where the population served is the city’s own. Reporting to the FBI is voluntary, so a count can reflect a partial return as easily as a small agency, and the FBI asks that agencies not be compared on staffing. This cycle has its own page: how it works, and how to build it.

Four on, four off on eleven-and-a-half hour tours never repeats weekly, so the same weekday is a work day one month and a day off the next. BlueShifts builds the cycle once and fills in every month ahead, and marks day and night tours separately, so which platoon you are on is visible at a glance across the year.

Where the figure comes from

Checked 13 September 2026. Town of Jupiter's own website, Police Department Salary page — open the source document
Open posting dated 22 April 2026; $36.06 hourly with the annual figure published as $75,000. VERIFIED ON THE TOWN'S OWN PAGE, 13 SEPTEMBER 2026, AND REPOINTED TO IT. jupiter.fl.us/405/Salary states in the Town's own words: 'Florida State Certified or Out-of-State Certified Police Officer Base Annual Starting Salary: $75,000', topping out at $124,000 under the contract between the Town of Jupiter and the Palm Beach County Police Benevolent Association, with an annual $3,000 tenure bonus once an officer reaches top-out. THE MEASURE IS THE PALM BAY SHAPE AND WAS CHECKED FOR DELIBERATELY: the Town also hires NON-CERTIFIED officers at $50,380.33 while they attend the academy, moving to the certified salary on passing the Florida State Examination. That is a parallel route, not the compulsory door - a certified applicant with no prior sworn service is hired straight in at $75,000, and under the entry-pay test certification never disqualifies while only prior sworn service does. The Town says separately that certified officers WITH full-time sworn experience may receive a salary adjustment for it, which is the lateral provision and confirms $75,000 is the no-prior-service rate. Excluded from the figure: assignment pay under the union contract (K-9 officers receive one hour of pay per shift), shift differential on the eleven-and-a-half hour tours, and the tenure bonus.
Entry-level base salary only. Overtime, bonuses, education incentives, shift differentials, locality pay and lateral rates are excluded, so most officers earn more than this.
