Logan Police Department entry pay

What this agency pays a new officer to start, and how that compares with the rest of the country.

Entry pay onlyEvery salary here is what an officer is paid on day one, out of the academy — base pay on a 40-hour week, with no overtime, shift differential, specialty or education pay counted. Nobody stays on it.

Logan Police Department starts at $56,888 a year — about $27.35 an hour on a 2,080-hour year, before overtime. That is $11,502 below the median of the 1,681 agencies on this list, and $14,376 below the median for municipal agencies.

Cost of livingPrices in Utah run about 1% below the national average, so this goes about as far as $57,542 would somewhere at average prices — $654 more than the headline figure. That average hides a wide spread: utilities at 79, where goods are 96. Based on state-wide price levels, because this agency is not tied to a single metro area, from the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis, 2024. The salary above is what the employer publishes; this line is our arithmetic on it, and nothing on this site is ranked on it.

About Logan

Logan City Police Department is the managing agency for the Cache/Rich Drug Task Force and runs a full-service investigation division, working to a community policing philosophy

Where the figure comes from

Checked 21 August 2026. City of Logan official Police Department “Compensation and Benefits” page — open the source document
$56,888. The department's own compensation page lists “Police Officer I (entry-level) $27.35 - 29.77 hourly”; $27.35 x 2,080 = $56,888.00. The word ENTRY-LEVEL is the city's own, printed against the grade, so there is nothing to infer. THE LADDER IS EXPERIENCE-GATED ABOVE IT and the city says so in its postings: Police Officer II ($28.74 - $31.28) requires a minimum of three years as a certified law enforcement officer, Police Officer III ($30.19 - $32.86) requires six. Part-time officers $23.00. A THIRD DATED POINT IS AVAILABLE FOR THE PAY CHART — an older Logan posting on the same site advertised Police Officer I at $20.86 - $21.68, and another at $20.86 - $23.15, against $27.35 - $29.77 now. The older two share a floor and need dating before they can be used.
Entry-level base salary only. Overtime, bonuses, education incentives, shift differentials, locality pay and lateral rates are excluded, so most officers earn more than this.

How this level compares

Where Logan sits is partly about the agency and partly about which level of policing it belongs to. The three levels do not pay the same.
