La Policía Municipal de Coamo se organiza bajo el Plan de Clasificación y Retribución aprobado por la Legislatura Municipal, con los rangos de Cadete, Policía Municipal, Sargento, Teniente y Capitán, y el puesto de confianza de Comisionado. Al revisar sus escalas en noviembre de 2025 la Legislatura razonó que, para viabilizar la retención y el reclutamiento de policías municipales, es necesario revisar las escalas retributivas de manera que sean representativas de la realidad económica, capacidad fiscal y costo de vida imperante en el país, y que ello se hacía en aras de continuar mejorando las condiciones de trabajo de nuestros policías y de lograr reclutar policías adicionales. El Comisionado de la Policía Municipal establece el plan de trabajo y asigna el personal uniformado y civil necesario para atender las actividades del municipio.
What Coamo Municipal does
The Policía Municipal de Coamo is the municipal force of a south-central town in the Cordillera Central, and the municipality's own ordinances set out both its rank structure and its work. Its ranks run cadete, policía municipal, sargento, teniente and capitán, headed by a Comisionado appointed to a post of confidence. Beyond routine patrol the force staffs the town's festival season, including the San Blas Half Marathon, which the municipality legislates for separately each year because it takes officers beyond their daily working hours.
