Coamo Municipal Police entry pay

What this agency pays a new officer to start, and how that compares with the rest of the country.

Entry pay onlyEvery salary here is what an officer is paid on day one, out of the academy — base pay on a 40-hour week, with no overtime, shift differential, specialty or education pay counted. Nobody stays on it.

Coamo Municipal Police starts at $24,000 a year — about $11.54 an hour on a 2,080-hour year, before overtime. That is $44,390 below the median of the 1,681 agencies on this list, and $4,236 below the median for territory agencies.

About Coamo Municipal

The Policía Municipal de Coamo is the municipal force of a south-central town in the Cordillera Central, and the municipality's own ordinances set out both its rank structure and its work. Its ranks run cadete, policía municipal, sargento, teniente and capitán, headed by a Comisionado appointed to a post of confidence. Beyond routine patrol the force staffs the town's festival season, including the San Blas Half Marathon, which the municipality legislates for separately each year because it takes officers beyond their daily working hours.
