San Lorenzo Municipal Police entry pay
What this agency pays a new officer to start, and how that compares with the rest of the country.
Entry pay onlyEvery salary here is what an officer is paid on day one, out of the academy — base pay on a 40-hour week, with no overtime, shift differential, specialty or education pay counted. Nobody stays on it.
San Lorenzo Municipal Police starts at $25,200 a year — about $12.12 an hour on a 2,080-hour year, before overtime. That is $43,190 below the median of the 1,681 agencies on this list, and $3,036 below the median for territory agencies.
About San Lorenzo Municipal
The Policía Municipal de San Lorenzo is the municipal force of a mountain town in Puerto Rico's east-central interior, charged in the municipality's own words with enforcing the laws, protecting the life and property of residents, keeping public order and preventing crime. It is unusually close to the Commonwealth force: by ordinance San Lorenzo adopts the Negociado de la Policía de Puerto Rico's own general orders and regulations as the municipal force's rulebook, and its Comisionado is a Puerto Rico Police officer serving on secondment under a formal agreement with the Departamento de Seguridad Pública.
Where the figure comes from
Checked 19 August 2026. OATRH empleos.pr.gov — Convocatoria MSL-01-2022, Policía Municipal, Municipio de San Lorenzo — open the source document
The Commonwealth's own employment portal states the class's Salario Mínimo Mensual as $2,100, and its standing footnote provides that a hire from outside government receives exactly that class minimum; $25,200 is the figure annualised (x12). The convocatoria is the 2022 series and closed in December 2022, and no later San Lorenzo ordinance or convocatoria restating the police scale was found (2024-2025 series checked), so this remains the last officially published minimum. Entry-level base salary only. Overtime, bonuses, education incentives, shift
differentials, locality pay and lateral rates are excluded, so most officers earn more
than this.
