What San Juan Municipal does
The Policía Municipal de San Juan is the police force of Puerto Rico's capital and the largest municipal force on the island, responsible for the roughly one in ten Puerto Ricans who live in the city. It is organised as a rank system under Chapter VI of the municipality's Public Safety Code, which sets out its ranks - commanders, inspectors, captains and lieutenants - and its duties, among them enforcing the Commonwealth's vehicle and traffic law and issuing citations under it.
