Culver Police Department entry pay

What this agency pays a new officer to start, and how that compares with the rest of the country.

Entry pay onlyEvery salary here is what an officer is paid on day one, out of the academy — base pay on a 40-hour week, with no overtime, shift differential, specialty or education pay counted. Nobody stays on it.

Culver Police Department starts at $65,520 a year — about $31.50 an hour on a 2,080-hour year, before overtime. That is $1,165 below the median of the 2,288 agencies on this list, and $2,620 below the median for municipal agencies.

Cost of livingPrices in Indiana run about 7% below the national average, so this goes about as far as $70,203 would somewhere at average prices — $4,683 more than the headline figure. Most of that is rent, at 74 against a national average of 100, where goods are 96. Based on state-wide price levels, because this agency is not tied to a single metro area, from the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis, 2024. The salary above is what the employer publishes; this line is our arithmetic on it, and nothing on this site is ranked on it.

What Culver says about itself

The Culver Police Department is one of the town departments of Culver, Indiana, in Marshall County, working from the Town Hall on East Washington Street under a Town Marshal appointed by the Town Council. Its officers perform duties related to law enforcement such as preventing crimes, investigating suspicious activity, apprehending violators, assisting persons in trouble, directing vehicular and pedestrian traffic, and enforcing town ordinances. The department is one of five municipal police forces in Marshall County alongside Plymouth, Bremen, Bourbon and Argos, which together with the Sheriff's Department, the Indiana Department of Natural Resources and the Indiana State Police submit their investigations to the county prosecutor for review.

What Culver does

Culver Police Department polices a small Marshall County town of around 1,600 on the shore of Lake Maxinkuckee in northern Indiana. Like many Indiana towns it is headed by a Town Marshal rather than a chief, with deputy marshals appointed by the Town Council, and it runs a handful of officers covering the town around the clock. The department works closely with the Marshall County Sheriff's Department, which handles many incidents in and around the town, and its officers cover Culver's schools and the lake shore.
