Eagle Pass Police Department polices a Rio Grande border city opposite Piedras Negras, organised into Administration, Criminal Investigations and Enforcement divisions each under a captain, with special operations and traffic enforcement under the latter. It runs a state-funded Auto Theft and Interdiction Unit that inspects used car dealerships and body shops alongside investigating theft and burglary, and carries code enforcement within the department

Two City of Eagle Pass documents together. The city's civil service classification ordinance, passed on third and final reading 17 September 2024 under Chapter 143 of the Texas Local Government Code, lists Police Officer (Tested) at BASE PAY GRADE 19 with 46 budgeted positions, and its Section 3 states that Step 1 of the pay grade applicable to each classified position sets the base pay amount for that classification. The City's adopted Annual Budget for Fiscal Year 2025-2026 then prints the pay scale at page 94: pay grade 19, Step 1 = $43,062 a year, rising through fourteen steps to $59,925. No prior service is required, and this is not a lateral rate: 'Tested' is the civil service entrance-examination class, and the city's own Police Officer notice of entrance examination requires only that an applicant meet the requirements to attain a TCOLE peace officer license at the time of examination, with no prior service.
